This email came from a friend. I removed his email information and mines because I do not want to be overrun with junk email. I also removed a reference he made to an online forum that was set up specifically for certain military personnel to receive necessary updates in preparation for the bird flu pandemic that is expected to arrive sooner than you think.

How are you and the family doing? Well I hope! Well the packet you got is just a prelude to things that are now taking place in Japan, and South Korea. With bird migration paths changing for the season there is concern that the birds using these paths will make a stop sometime soon in the Aleutian Islands which are part of Alaska. This means that it will then work its way through Canada into the lower 48 states of the US. Unfortunately, Canada (Saskatchewan) province has had an outbreak which was covered up by the Canadian gov't until it was given the all clear by the WHO (world health organization) late last week. The kicker with this is that it was kept under wraps for 90 days until the all clear by the WHO.
The outbreak they had was the low pathonegenic type of the virus. The type coming from S. Korea, and Japan is the deadly type... Reports are now starting to show up that India which has been getting worked over by the deadly type has been concealing human infections of people who have had no contact with any types of birds. This may represent the beginning of the human to human transmission. It also appears that S. Korea may be doing the same thing as India just not on as large a scale. My estimate is that by this coming November we may begin seeing cases here in the US. Keep in mind that November is being optimistic. We could well see things occur much sooner than that.
Earlier this week a medical report was issued which gave health care workers a framework of who to treat in the case of a pandemic. Let's just say that the old, and those with sicknesses and injuries which could be saved by treatments we consider routine... are not on the list of savable. Things like this are just the beginning of what we will see.
As for the price of grains there have been some natural disasters, and droughts which are causing some of this. The big problem is the US gov't rules regarding using grain for biofuels. This is causing farmers who would normally grow soybeans, wheat, rice and other crops to grow corn because of the cash subsidies being offered. You may begin to see a change back due to this problem, although it may be to late this year because many of the crops need to be in the ground within the next few weeks which leaves little time to change.
I'm not the type of person to scream fire in a movie theatre but, part of my job with the military is to look at H5N1 (bird flu). What I'm seeing is a very real and deadly trend in it's spread. There are things regarding this issue I am not at liberty to discuss. Everything I have told you here is available online. A site has been set up for me by my unit on goggle. (ADDRESS REMOVED FOR MASS DISTIBUTION) I'm not sure if you can get direct access to it. Try to see if you can log into it. If you can't, send me a note and I will have you added to the list. This allows me to give daily updates to members of my unit as well civilians who have been given access. This will allow you to follow what is going on. Like I said I update this almost daily, usually in the morning. Did I give you the preparations lists that I have? Let me know if I didn't, or if you need new ones and I will send them to you. I'm hoping I am completely wrong about this whole thing but, the more I see the more I'm convinced it's coming. Start putting always things as you are able, and let me know if you need the lists.
The fuel situation is going to spiral out real quick as you no doubt probably know. $3.75 a gallon today. Be looking for $4.00+ by this weekend, or early next week. There are certain market forces at work which may put gas at close to $10.00 a gallon by the end of the year. You may want to start storing fuel. I can give you some ideas on how you can do this. Why fuel, you may ask. It can be used for your car, and also as a bartering tool if things get bad. Pertaining to the gun, keep in mind that a gun that is not bought in a gun store means that the gov't doesn't know you have it, and therefore won't know to come and get it if things go south.
